To live our best lives possible, we need to free up our mental rent and energy to leave space for creative thoughts and ideas.
The problem is that we’re usually so busy going 100% for most our lives that we’re left little time to pursue our dreams, let alone stop and smell the roses. People pursue hobbies on the fringes of their lives and time. Even when they’re not go-go-go-ing, many people choose passive, potato-relaxation like laying down on the couch in front of the TV, surfing the internet, or tapping into the never-ending swipe-hole on our phones for hours on end. (I know this because I fall into these traps!).
I came up with the name Lawptimal as a blog based on my interest in law (think Law-Optimal), but this blog is for people of all kinds to share their ideas and learn techniques to maximize their time, energy, free up mental rent, achieve healthier work-life integration, and live their best lives possible.
I’m a wannabe standup comedian too, so I make many failed attempts at humor here. In the end, the common ground between all of the content on this blog centers around (i) making life more enjoyable and effective and (ii) my endless search for ways to avoid cleaning my apartment and doing dishes.
If you’re already saying to yourself “Who the heck is this guy, and what does he know about anything? I’m a NASA scientist, a father, coach of youth soccer, and I’ve invented a cure for bone-itis. What, then, could I possibly learn from this second-rate website?”
I would provide you this handy quote from an author of whom I’ve never heard:
“When you stop growing you start dying.” – William S. Burroughs, American writer/artist
So c’mon, check out my man-bun posts and start living a happier, more productive life
